In 1884 today the first volume of the Oxford English Dictionary was published which had the entries from A to Ant.
Then in 1893 Thomas A. Edison finished construction of the first motion picture studio – the Black Maria in New Jersey. It is still referred as America’s first Movie studio.
And last year in 2009 Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir was elected as the first female Prime Minister of Iceland thus becoming the first openly gay head of the state in the modern world. And what we see in India is even though now the law in the country recognizes homosexuals as normal human being who deserves all their human rights, it is still being considered as a taboo and a matter of hot debate. If someone can lead a nation like that, how difficult is to accept them a part of the system?
