Today - January 23

January 23rd.

In 1897 on January 23rd Elva Zona Heaster was found dead in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Now how is that good news? Obviously it is not. But this was a very rare event. After the death of Zona for sometime there was no trouble, she was buried and examined by the doctor before that and people thought it was a natural process of death though there were some reports of seeing abnormal changes in the behavior of her husband after the incident. But Zona’s mother felt that her daughter is murdered by her son-in-law and saw some strange things happening, like indicating something. And finally her daughter’s ghost came to meet her one day and narrated how her husband has killed her. After this when Zona’s mother got the case reopened and the body was checked again, the same signs were found from the way Zona’s ghost narrated to her mother. Later Zona’s husband was prosecuted. This became famous as The Greenbrier Ghost where it is the only case in United States history where the alleged testimony of a ghost helped to secure a conviction.

At the same day same year Subhas Chandra Bose was born. He was one of the very few people who believed in using arm power to overthrow the British from India in their own battle. He formed the Azad Hind Fauz and fought hard with the British in Rangoon, Burma. He is famous by the name of Netaji.

Jai Gurudev!

Love!
