Today - January 21

Three weeks into 2010, January 21^st.

Opel, the famous German automobile company, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors was founded on 21^st January, 1863 by Adam Opel and manufactured its first automobile on the same day in 1899.

Also the famous Monte Carlo rally that takes place along the French Riviera in the Principality of Monaco and southeast France first started in 1911 in this day. Since its inception this rally was an important means of testing the latest improvements and innovations in the automobiles. The rally will comprise of dry tarmac, wet tarmac, snow and ice, sometimes all in a single stage of the rally. The whole things just sound too exiting and think of the Drivers, how they would have felt behind the wheels.

Coming back to India, today in 1972 Meghalaya and Tripura, two small states from the North-Eastern part of India became a full-fledged state. Happy Birthday! There is another Tripura in the Bangalore Ashram, very important one indeed like the other one.
