So … here comes January 16.
Exactly 101 years back today in 1909 Ernest Shackleton, an Anglo-Irish explorer from the time of Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration found the magnetic South Pole. He and three companions of him made a southern march which established record Farthest South latitude, closest to the South Pole in exploration history up to that time. For his achievement, he was Knighted by the King then.
Also recently in 2006 Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was elected as the President of Liberia. As of now she is the first and the only female in the history of Africa to head a state. She worked in the position of Finance Minister in 1980s but then moved to head different financial institutions before coming back to active politics.
Jai Gurudev!
Love!
