January 15 is going to be one of the most important dates mainly in the field of Astrology and Astronomy. Not because of the past! But because of right now, this day, January 15, 2010.
Because …, well before that, in 2001 today Wikipedia, the biggest encyclopedia went online! And in nearly 10 years it has become the largest source of information.
And last year in 2009 US airways flight 1549 made a miraculous unimaginable emergency and safe landing into the chilling water of Hudson. And even more miraculously all the passengers and crew members were saved without any major damages.
Now coming back to the story of today, today we are observing the longest annular solar eclipse of this millennium! Yes, the next is due on December 23, 3043 from the longest duration point of view. Hmmn. But this is not a total eclipse. The annular eclipse happens when earth is closest to Sun but Moon is at the maximum distance from earth. In that case the Moon looks smaller than the Sun from earth. And hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, surrounding the outline of the Moon.
Interesting no? There is much more interesting things happening in that big open sky. Read to know more: http://www.bharathgyan.com/.
Jai Gurudev!
Love!
