January 13. Quite interesting.
Now those who thought that this year is old again and we have to wait for … ummn … yeah, 352 days more for another new year, think again! There is a secret. New Year is just one day away!!!
Yes, people who follow Julian calendar Or Old New Year format they still celebrate January 13 as New Year’s Eve. Now interestingly the Julian calendar was started by Julius Caesar in 46BC where as the commonly used (Now-a-days) Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII only in 1582. Slowly almost all the countries officially adopted the Gregory calendar except for few countries like Russia, North Africa where some people still follow the Julian calendar. In 20th and 21st century the New Year according to the Julian calendar falls on January 13/14.
Is not that interesting? Who knows if there were 365 types of calendars (either in past or sometime in the future) somewhere or the other on this earth people will be celebrating New Year everyday!
Jai Gurudev!
Love!
